Ranking European SUP League + Taranto Top Actions

The ESL has compiled the results from the World SUP Festival Costa Blanca and the Lido Gandoli SUP Race. Check out the Top Actions from Taranto by Up Suping.

The European SUP League 2026 has updated its official overall ranking following the second event of the calendar, the Lido Gandoli SUP Race, held in Taranto, Italy. The ranking now includes the accumulated results from the first two events of the season: the World SUP Festival Costa Blanca, held in Santa Pola, Spain, and the Italian event in Taranto.

The Overall Open ranking is calculated by combining the results from the official disciplines of the circuit: Technical Race, Long Distance and Sprint, with a weighting of 40% for Technical Race, 30% for Long Distance and 30% for Sprint. All subcategories compete together within the general Open ranking.

After the first two events, Denmark’s Donato Freens leads the men’s Open ranking with 1,392 points, following a decisive performance in Taranto, where he claimed victories in both Technical Race and Long Distance. He is followed by Italy’s Filippo Mercuriali, with 994 points, and Nicol Vincenzo Ricco, also from Italy, with 913 points. Completing the men’s top five are Japan’s Shuri Araki, with 850 points, and Spain’s Sergio Cantoral Quirant, with 794 points.

In the women’s category, Italy’s Cecilia Pampinella leads the Overall Open Women ranking with 1,302 points, confirming her consistency across the Santa Pola and Taranto events. Second place goes to Sveva Sabato, also from Italy, with 1,222 points, while Claudia Postiglione holds third place with 916 points. The women’s top five is completed by Velia Pisanelli, with 865 points, and Spain’s Alba Alonso Frey, with 793 points.

The ranking update confirms the competitive intensity of the opening stage of the season and reflects the high international level of the European SUP League, with riders representing several European nations as well as other key stand up paddle markets worldwide.

The Taranto event has played a key role in shaping the new ranking, particularly for Italian athletes, who took advantage of the home event to climb the standings in both the men’s and women’s categories. At the same time, the accumulated results keep the fight for the season title wide open, with several events still to come.

For the European SUP League, this update represents another step in consolidating the circuit as an international sporting platform, offering athletes, federations, host venues and sponsors a structured, transparent and competitive system connected to the development of European stand up paddle.
