From 1 to 3 May, foil fans will not miss the Barcelona Foil Festival, a national and international competition based in Mataró.
That’s right, we were already looking forward to an exclusive foil event with a format that is very interesting for all foil lovers: the Barcelona Foil Festival 🏁
Because from the 1st to the 3rd of May, the best foil riders from all over the world will compete in a great 27 km challenge, with a downwind that will start on the beach of Barcelona and finish in the port of Mataró. It will also host the Fesurfing Spanish Foil Championship and the Fsurf.cat Catalan Foil Championship. There is an alternative plan for unfavorable weather conditions: an 18 km race from Arenys de Mar to Premià de Mar, or a foil/pump foil surfing event.
We will be broadcasting the competition live on Up Suping, and the event will also feature a video recap and photo gallery. The competition will feature SUP foil and foildrive divisions. In addition, you will be able to discover many other activities on the event’s social networks 📲 HERE
LOGISTICS

- Accommodation: There are numerous hotels available in the area.
- A discounted rate (20% discount) is offered at the Atenea Port Hotel using the promotional code: WINDPARADISE. This hotel is also the venue for the meetings and the finish line of the competition.
- Transport and safety on the water: the organisation will provide transport with a large bus to the start line and there will be 4 boats for safety on the water and media coverage.
RACE DAY
The race will be held on the day with the best conditions. The provisional schedule is as follows ⏱
- 10:00 AM: Meeting point at Hotel Atenea Mataró.
- 10:30 AM: Water safety and race briefing.
- 11:30 PM: Departure of the bus to Barcelona.
- 14:00 H: Race start.
- 18:00 H: Awards ceremony at the Hotel Atenea.
RULES
World class participants 🤙
- The race starts in front of the W Hotel, between two boats. Competitors must be seated on their boards.
- Competitors have 15 minutes to take the start, otherwise they will be disqualified.
- The race has a time limit of 2:30h. Water safety boats will retrieve any competitor who does not finish within this time.
- A lead boat with a flag will indicate the direction of arrival.
- The finish line is on the beach near the port of Mataró.
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
- Waterproof jacket: 50N such as Vaikobi, Baltic, etc. It is recommended to bring water as well.
- Smartphone with waterproof case: phone with eStela app installed and enough battery to finish the race. The phone must be in a waterproof case.
- Competition T-shirt: you must wear the event T-shirt.
- Leash: it is essential in these races. You can use the one that suits you best.
